I wasn’t planning on seeing this film but my friend talked me into it, so we went to the cinema to see The Lucky One.

I’ve read 1 or 2 Nicholas Sparks novels and at that time I enjoyed reading them but now, when I think of it, I don’t like them anymore. Plus, the movie versions are way too sappy. It’s weird. I love a good romantic film, but these are just over-the-top. I mean, there are sweet scenes and maybe some where you really feel with the characters and maybe need to hold back tears but overall, it’s just too much. And some scenes or things that the characters do are just ridiculous.

Rating: 2/5.

Of course I had to watch this. American Reunion.

BUT. It’s not that good. And how can a 4th film in a franchise ever be good? (Except for Harry Potter, obviously.)

Not everything was bad, but some things were just so stupid that I could not even laugh at them. What I liked though was that several jokes made it through all the films but didn’t sound repetitive or boring. That’s good. And the soundtrack was pretty good, as it was in all the previous films.

I’m not even sure this film is ratable.

I haven’t been as excited as other people to see this film, mainly because I haven’t seen any of the previous films with the different superheroes. But: The Avengers is simply amazing.

It really is. So cool. The fact that I watched it in German may make the film a bit less awesome because a lot of jokes got lost in translaltion, I could tell. Also, when the film started it took some time to draw me in – it was a bit boring in the first few minutes.

But I ended up really liking it. Great score, great actors/actresses, great “scenery” if I can say so (I mean, great background design etc.).
And obviously, none of the superheroes had to die. That was a bit predictable, though.

Rating: 5/5.

Some friends and I decided we wanted to watch the first three American Pie films before watching American Reunion in the cinema, so we met up for an American Pie-themed evening. We ended up accidentally watching American Pie and American Wedding, missing out on American Pie 2.

It was so much fun! Both films are really funny, I’ve never seen American Wedding before and the last time I saw American Pie was probably around 8-10 years ago. Obviously, the first one is better than the third – nothing new with film series.

I also really liked the soundtrack. And all the actors and actresses. Love it!

Rating: 5/5 for the first one, 4/5 for the third one. I guess. I think I could change that to less stars (for both films) – but I just really enjoyed watching them!

I went to a testscreening today with a friend and only when we got there the people actually told us what we were going to see: Das Hochzeitsvideo (which means The Wedding Video in English). I had heard of that film and also seen the trailer and wasn’t very happy that this was the film we were going to see.

I was positively surprised. The film was actually really good, funny, sweet and cool. Basically, it was made as if it was a real wedding video – there was one guy who was filming everything (later another girl did the same and the views were intermixed) and people were talking directly into the camera (except when they didn’t know they were being filmed). In the beginning, some of the acting wasn’t very convincing, but it got better as the film progressed.

Rating: 4/5.

I went to visit a friend in another city for a couple of days and we decided to go and see a film. There wasn’t much on the programme so we chose De Vrais Mensonges (English title Beautiful Lies) and watched it in French (with subtitles – thank God!).

It starred Audrey Tautou, who also played in Amelie, which I loved. De Vrais Mensonges is nice, but not overwhelmingly good. I didn’t like it as much as Amelie. It’s sweet, funny, but sometimes too much, especially too much back and forth.

This week has turned into a “rewatch all the Harry Potter-films”-week! I like that.

I’ve forgotten how much I like the 4th film in the series, it’s pretty good! So is the 5th. I don’t particularly like the 6th one, though.

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, there’s just so much to see and to like, so many new things – the students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons and of course everything around the Triwizard Tournament. Also, I guess Harry’s looks were at their best in that film (if not in the 3rd) ;)
Rating: 5/5

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ron suddenly became rather handsome. Of course, that’s not the (only) reason I like that film. It’s a great story and I really like every part the Weasley twins play in it. I hate Umbridge. The parts with her make my body physically ache.
Rating: 4/5 to 5/5.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, there’s just so many things that I don’t like. I hated the stupid parts where they tried to show that all of the characters are growing up and are not kids anymore – those stupid lines Dumbledore says are so unnecessary. And they weren’t in the book, so they shouldn’t be in the movie, they don’t fit at all (e.g. Dumbledore suggesting that Harry needs a shave, Dumbledore asking whether Hermione is more than ‘just a friend’ of Harry’s, etc.). And I’m not even going to mention all that ridiculous love-stuff going on!
Rating: 3/5 to 4/5.

Another family movie night! We’ve seen the second film in the series so often that we decided to go from the first straight to the third. One of my favourites in the franchise, I have to say!

Superb acting from David Thewlis as Remus Lupin, Gary Oldman as Sirius Black, and all the others of course. Although Hermione’s (Emma Watson’s) laughter in one scene is so artificial, it’s so weird. I’m glad she became a better actress after all.

Rating: 5/5 I guess.

Now, I’ve seen that film several times before, I’m sure. And of course I’ve read all the books. In fact, I’m a huge Harry Potter Nerd. My sisters and mum came back from a few days staying at my grandma’s and got all excited talking about Harry Potter (one of my sisters is writing a school project on the Harry Potter phenomenon) – they had to watch the first film when they got home, they said. So that’s what we did :)

I didn’t remember that the film was soooooo loooooooog. I have to admit, at times it seemed boring and slow. But maybe that’s only because I’ve seen it before and knew everything that was going to happen… Still, I find it very very good, I especially love the British accent (: And it’s so sweet.

Nevertheless, this time: 4/5.

I went to the cinema again! With some friends, again. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Really nice. Not overwhelmingly good, but really nice – very lovable characters, all of them! Especially Bill Nighy. Love him. And Judi Dench. And Maggie Smith! The others were great, too, but I couldn’t help but see Penelope Wilton as her character in Downton Abbey, I just couldn’t get it out of my head – she talks exactly the same way.

And this is not meant to be racist, but I just find the Indian English accent funny (: Well, not funny, but I really like hearing it (:

Rating: 4/5. I guess.
